Introductory provisions

This Cookie Policy (hereinafter: the Policy) is the Service Provider’s notice to all Users about which cookies and similar technologies are used by the website www.govorislovensko.si, including the learning app available after signing in (hereinafter: the website), for what purposes, for how long, and how the User can manage their choice.

The Policy is adopted to give effect to the principle of transparency, in accordance with the regulations of the United Kingdom (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 – PECR, the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), the European Union regulations on privacy in electronic communications and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), as well as the Law on Personal Data Protection of the Republic of Serbia (“Official Gazette of the RS”, No. 87/2018 – ZZPL) and the regulations on electronic communications, to the extent that they apply to the User.

The Policy applies together with, and is consistent with, the Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy, and specifically governs the use of cookies. Terms defined in the Terms of Use have the same meaning in this Policy.

Article 1.

Definitions

In this Policy, the following terms have the following meanings:

  • “Cookie” – a small text file that the website places on the User’s device through the browser, in order to remember certain information about the visit or settings;
  • “Local and session storage” – space in the User’s browser where the website stores data in a way similar to cookies; the same rules apply to this storage as to cookies;
  • “First-party cookie” – a cookie placed by the Service Provider;
  • “Third-party cookie” – a cookie placed through the website by another party (for example Google or Meta);
  • “Session cookie” – a cookie that is deleted when the browser or tab is closed;
  • “Persistent cookie” – a cookie that remains on the device until a set period expires or until the User deletes it.

In this Policy, the term “cookies” also includes the browser’s local and session storage, unless the text indicates otherwise.

Article 2.

Subject and purpose of the Policy

This Policy sets out the types of cookies used on the website, their purpose and duration, the parties that place them, how consent is given and withdrawn, and how cookies can be managed.

The purpose of the Policy is for the User to receive clear and complete information about cookies before giving consent, and to decide freely on the use of cookies that are not necessary.

Article 3.

Use of cookies and the need for consent

The website uses cookies that are necessary for it to work and to provide the Service requested by the User. No consent is needed for these cookies, because without them the website cannot function properly.

Measurement and marketing cookies are used only with the User’s prior consent. These cookies are not placed, and the related tools are not loaded, until the User gives consent.

Where cookies contain personal data or are linked to it, the processing of that data is governed by the Privacy Policy.

Article 4.

Giving and withdrawing consent

On the first visit to the website, the User is shown a cookie notice in which they can:

  • accept all cookies;
  • reject all cookies that are not necessary;
  • choose the individual categories of cookies they accept.

Rejecting cookies is as easy as accepting them. Continuing to browse the website without making a choice in the notice is not considered consent.

Rejecting cookies that are not necessary does not affect access to the website and the Service, nor the price of the Service.

The User’s choice is remembered for 6 months, after which the notice is shown again.

The User may change or withdraw their consent at any time through the “Cookie settings” option in the footer of the website. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of the use of cookies before the withdrawal. Third-party cookies that have already been placed can also be deleted through the browser settings, in accordance with Article 11 of this Policy.

Article 5.

Necessary cookies

The website uses the following necessary first-party cookies:

  • gs-auth-token – cookie and local storage; keeps the User signed in to the Account; duration: 7 days (cookie), or until sign-out (local storage);
  • gs-lang – cookie; remembers the chosen language of the website; duration: 1 year;
  • gs-consent – cookie; remembers the User’s cookie choice; duration: 6 months;
  • gs-country – cookie; remembers the country from which the User accesses the website, which the learning app uses when providing the Service; duration: 1 month;
  • gs-signup-proof, gs-signup-next – local storage; allow sign-up to continue after the email address is confirmed; duration: deleted once the Account is confirmed;
  • gs-checkout-started, gs-learn-source – session storage; track a payment that has been started and the initial setup of the app; duration: until the browser tab is closed.

Legal basis: necessary cookies are used without consent, because they are necessary to provide the Service requested by the User, and the processing of data connected with them is based on the performance of the contract and the legitimate interest of the Service Provider.

Article 6.

Measurement cookies

With the User’s consent, the following measurement cookies are used:

  • gs-utm – local storage; remembers the advertising campaign through which the User came to the website, so that the sign-up can be linked to that campaign; duration: 30 days;
  • _ga, _ga_* – third-party cookies (Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager); distinguish visitors and record page views and the User’s steps on the website, in order to produce statistics and improve the website; duration: up to 2 years.

Google Tag Manager is used only to load the tools listed above and does not itself place cookies.

Legal basis: the User’s consent.

Article 7.

Marketing cookies

With the User’s consent, the following marketing cookies are used:

  • _fbp – third-party cookie (Meta Pixel, Facebook and Instagram); measures visits and sign-ups resulting from ads and passes to Meta information about pages visited and about sign-up events; duration: up to 90 days;
  • _fbc – third-party cookie (Meta Pixel); remembers the ad the User clicked before arriving at the website; duration: up to 90 days.

With regard to the collection and transmission of data through the Meta Pixel, the Service Provider and Meta are joint controllers, while Meta carries out further processing as an independent controller, in accordance with its privacy policy.

Legal basis: the User’s consent.

Article 8.

Measurement without cookies

The Service Provider uses the Vercel Analytics service, which collects visit statistics without cookies and without recognising individual Users, only in aggregate form. No consent is needed for this type of measurement.

Technical data generated when the website is used (server logs, error reports and in-app events) is processed in accordance with the Privacy Policy and does not depend on cookies.

Article 9.

Third-party cookies and data transfers

Third-party cookies are placed and managed by Google and Meta, in accordance with their own terms and privacy policies, which the User can read on those companies’ websites (policies.google.com and www.facebook.com/privacy/policy).

Data collected through third-party cookies may be transferred to the United States of America and other countries outside the United Kingdom, the European Union and the Republic of Serbia. Such transfers are made with the safeguards described in the Privacy Policy.

The Service Provider is not responsible for processing that a third party carries out for its own purposes, but the website allows third-party cookies to be placed only in accordance with the User’s choice.

Article 10.

Telegram bot

The Telegram bot @govori_slovensko_bot does not use cookies. Data processed by the Telegram app is governed by the rules of Telegram, as an independent controller.

Article 11.

Managing cookies in the browser

In addition to the choice in the cookie notice, the User can manage cookies through the browser settings: view the cookies that have been placed, delete them, block all cookies or only third-party cookies, or set the browser to warn them before a cookie is placed. Instructions are available in the help section of each browser.

If the User blocks or deletes necessary cookies, some functions of the website will not work properly, such as signing in to the Account, remembering the language or payment.

Deleting cookies also deletes the remembered cookie choice, so the notice is shown again on the next visit.

Article 12.

Personal data and the User’s rights

Where personal data is processed through cookies, the User has all the rights set out in the Privacy Policy, including the right of access, erasure, objection and withdrawal of consent, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with the competent data protection authority.

For any questions about cookies, the User may contact the Service Provider at dalibor@govorislovensko.si.

Article 13.

Changes to the Policy

The Service Provider may change this Policy, in particular when it introduces new cookies, changes their purpose or duration, or to comply with regulations.

If new cookies that are not necessary are introduced, or the purpose of existing ones changes, the cookie notice is shown to the User again so that new consent can be given.

The date of the last change is stated at the top of the Policy published on the website.

Article 14.

Final provisions

The Policy is published in English, Serbian, Croatian, Macedonian and Albanian. The English and Serbian versions are the original texts; the Croatian, Macedonian and Albanian versions are translations provided for convenience. In the event of a discrepancy between the language versions, the Serbian version prevails for Users who use the website in Serbian, and the English version for all other Users.

This Policy enters into force and applies from the date of its publication on the website.
